Eve Birch tells her story of her unfortunate life in this speech. She was broken and homeless but found an abandoned shack. After she began to rent her shack and learn what it meant to be a true neighbor, she reformed her thoughts about the American dream. To begin with, Eve believed that the American dream was a person’s success and individual achievement. After seeing the people and experiencing the community, Eve realized that maybe the true American dream meant treating everybody as your neighbor. It meant working together to better the community.
