Friends

I may not have a bunch of friends, but I have a few that I hold close to my heart.  Luke is the type of friend that I would identify as a loyal best friend. He is always there for me, and I know I can count on him. He is faithful, truehearted, devoted, and reliable. He never judges me, and he does his best to support me in everything about. Autumn is my fearless adventurer friend. She is bold, brave, and courageous. She is always going somewhere new and exploring places. If you are ever feeling in the dumps, she is the one to call. She will take you somewhere and make you forget about all your worries. She is always there when I need her, and I know I can count on her. Imani is my wise mentor friend. She is always there to help when I have a problem and encourages me when I am feeling down. She is caring, loving, thoughtful, and trustworthy. She is a mentor that helps me when I have a tough time deciding what I want to do. I may not have the most friends, but I do believe I have the best ones.

2/3 My Grandfather

My grandfather was my absolute best friend. There was not one time that he could not make me smile when I was sad. I would beat myself up about my family’s past, and I would tell myself I could not be anything. My grandfather changed my whole perspective on my life. He made me believe in myself when I found it most difficult to believe in myself. There are a lot of time when I compare myself to my family and their struggles. They did not make the best decisions, and it did not turn out the best. He taught me that I chose how my life turns out. I can choose to be successful as long as I am determined. Without my grandfather, I do not believe I would believe in myself the way I do. I do not think I would be in college and pushing myself to be the best I can be. He loved to fish, and we shared that in common. He was a caring man and always put other people before him. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a one of a kind man. I miss my grandfather, and I wis...

College Students

College students often struggle to balance their schoolwork with the demands of everyday life. There are many things that a student can struggle with. They often have jobs, have children to care to, or either could be sick. I often myself struggle to keep up with my school work and doing other things in my daily life. One day, I had the flu. I had three tests the next day that I could not miss. There was no way around missing them and making them up because it was finals. I had to work through my sickness and go to class. I was able to talk to my teachers to be able to take my test alone because I did not want to contaminate other classmates. It did not make taking my test any easier, but at least no one else would be affected. Sometimes things might get in the way of studying and being sick did that for me. Sometimes if you stay organized, it can be easier to balance everything going on in your life.

Social Media

Social Media is detrimental to our face-to-face interactions with strangers. We tend to focus only on our phones and social media. We get so used to communicating on the internet that we do not know how to interact in person. People are forgetting how to communicate correctly. Not only is if effecting our manners, but it is causing people to have hated towards each other. Jealousy problems come with interacting with strangers that we do not know but see on our social media. We tend to stay to ourselves and on social media to interact with others instead of having face-to-face interactions. One time when I went to the Renaissance festival, there were people who did not do anything but sit on their phones. They did not interact with the people at the festival and missed a wonderful experience. We no longer feel the need to go and meet people because we just follow them on social media. It is causing our human interaction and having a negative effect on us.
